Eye Tracking Researcher
BIRD is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as an Eye Tracking Researcher, to lead field-based research studying gaze and subtitle engagement amongst rural women and girls. BIRD leverages eye tracking methodologies to validate SLS on Indian TV/online streaming, providing automatic reading practice among weak readers during entertainment viewing.
A good fit includes:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, Neuroscience, Human-Computer Interaction, or other related field.
- Strong ability to perform inferential statistical analysis (ANOVA, regressions, and t-tests).
- Programming skills in Python, R, or MATLAB for data processing.
- Strong communication skills for research reports and conference presentations.
- Prior experience conducting eye tracking experiments with devices such as EyeLink or GazePoint will be an added advantage.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in Marathi, Hindi and English.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute eye tracking experiments to investigate gaze patterns in studies focused on subtitles.
- Collect, preprocess, and analyze eye movement data.
- Perform statistical validation of results using ANOVA, regression, and other methods.
- Manage experimental protocols, including participant recruitment, calibration, and ethical compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive research reports.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular progress reports, status updates, and other documentation.
- Evolving Role: We foresee this role to evolve over time depending on BIRD’s needs.
A good deal of flexibility and adaptability will be required. - Travel: This role will require regular field-based travel to various rural districts in India.
